Safari Itenrary

Day 1 Arrival in Kigali, Rwanda and City Tour

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our guide, who will be your knowledgeable companion throughout this incredible 4-day journey. After a pleasant meet and greet, you will embark on a city tour of Kigali, Rwanda’s charming capital known for its cleanliness and greenery. The city tour may include a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a poignant tribute to the lives lost during the 1994 genocide. Gain insights into Rwanda’s history, resilience, and the remarkable progress the country has made since then.

After the city tour, you will be transferred to Volcanoes National Park, a scenic drive that offers glimpses of Rwanda’s beautiful countryside. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation nestled in the foothills of the Virunga Mountains. Enjoy a delicious dinner at the lodge, surrounded by the tranquility of the forest, before retiring for the night in anticipation of the adventures to come.

Day 2 Golden Monkey Tracking and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the lodge, fueling up for an exciting day ahead. Today, you will have the unique opportunity to track the playful golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park. After a briefing from the park rangers on the rules and guidelines for golden monkey trekking, set off into the lush forest with your expert guide.

As you trek through the verdant vegetation, listen for the distinctive calls of the golden monkeys and keep your eyes peeled for their shimmering coats. Golden monkeys are known for their acrobatic antics and social interactions, providing a captivating wildlife encounter. Spend quality time observing and photographing these charming primates in their natural habitat before returning to the lodge for a well-deserved lunch. Thereafter, head to the border where after clearing we will proceed to Bwindi.

Day 3 Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Enjoy an early breakfast to fuel up for the day’s adventure. Head to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing on the trekking procedures, safety measures, and the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas. Embark on a guided trek into the dense forest in search of a gorilla family. The trek can last anywhere from 2 to 8 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Enjoy the breathtaking experience of observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat for up to one hour. Carry a packed lunch to enjoy during the trek. Trek back to the park headquarters . Later, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. The drive is through a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ because of its unique cool weather. This lake is said to be one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa [900 meters deep] and also one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharzia free.

Day 4 Lake Bunyonyi Activities and Transfer to Kigali

On your final day of this remarkable journey, wake up to the serene sounds of the forest and enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the lodge. Today, you will travel to the scenic Lake Bunyonyi, known as the “Switzerland of Africa” for its stunning beauty and tranquil ambiance. Upon arrival, check into your lakeside accommodation and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and islands.

Spend the day exploring the activities that Lake Bunyonyi has to offer, such as canoeing, swimming, birdwatching, or simply relaxing by the water’s edge. The tranquil atmosphere of the lake provides the perfect setting for unwinding and soaking in the natural splendor of Uganda’s countryside.

In the afternoon, bid farewell to Lake Bunyonyi as you embark on your journey back to Kigali, Rwanda. Your guide will ensure a smooth border crossing and transfer you to Kigali International Airport for your departure, marking the end of this unforgettable Rwanda-Uganda adventure.
