Tour Details

This Kenya discovery safari packs so much into 4 active days – endangered rhinos and rare giraffes, colorful birdlife, and the big cats of the Masai Mara National Reserve. You’ll start your tour at the Rift Valley lakes of Nakuru and Naivasha and nearby Crescent Island. By Jeep, boat, and guided walking tour, you’ll safari into a world of leopards, zebras, waterbucks, wildebeests, lions, crocodiles and so much more.

And the land… you’ll dive into deep acacia forests, and cross by waterfalls and shorelines painted with innumerable birds, vast rolling hills, and deep golden savannahs.

At Lake Naivasha, we’ll take a colorful boating safari past hippos while antelope graze nearby on the shore. Crescent Island offers special moments to discover giraffe, zebra, gazelle, impala, dik-dik, and even hippos.

Lake Nakuru is a waterscape of pelicans, cormorants, and kingfishers. But this pretty park will also bring opportunities to spot rhinos, giraffe, monkeys, and even cheetah and lions. We’ll wrap up this 4-day safari encounter at the Masai Mara National Reserve, an eco-system blessed with the densest concentration of big cats in the region. All of Africa’s “Big Five” roam these savannahs plus thousands of wildebeests, zebra, and some 95 other mammals and wildlife.

Highlights

The Rift Valley lakes are a busy palette of birdlife and sometimes even showing off bright pink flamingoes. Lake Nakuru is especially versatile with its distinct worlds of water and inland forest. You can find rare and endangered black rhinos here in the protected sanctuary and also monkeys, baboons, and sometimes lion and leopard.

Crescent Island Game Sanctuary is a gem of a park and a nicely held secret. There’s plenty of birdlife like pelicans and cormorants but its biggest attraction is the chance to walk past grazing wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, and buffalo.

And then there’s the call of Kenya’s most popular park, the Masai Mara. This is the home of the Great Migration, a yearly outpouring of millions of herding animals streaming through the reserve, the site of which is unequaled on the planet. Throw in lions, cheetahs, leopards, and crocodiles and your safari experience may just be transformational.

Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi – Lake Naivasha – Crescent Island – Lake Nakuru

3-Hour Drive

Meals: Lunch & Dinner

7:00 am – Your Africa Kenya Safaris driver/guide will pick you up in a private 4 x 4 Safari Jeep for the easy and scenic road trip along the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Along our route, we’ll take in the dramatic rise of the escarpment walls.

We’ll make stops to rest and enjoy the natural expanse of the land.

Arriving at Lake Naivasha, we’ll take a fun sailing safari across this freshwater lake, gliding past hippos and catching sight of pelicans, cormorants, and maybe some antelope grazing on the shore.

Then we’ll hop over to nearby Crescent Island for a guided walking tour of this unique private reserve. This is the best way to get close to gently grazing zebra, buffalo, giraffe, impala, and gazelle.

Our third park of the day takes us to Lake Nakuru – a visual feast with the lake bordered by acacia forest, towering rocky escarpments, waterfalls, and wooded hills. The bird and wildlife are just as diverse – pelicans, kingfishers, storks, herons, eagles, and sometimes even bright flamingoes.

On land, we’ll be on the lookout for rare Rothschild’s giraffe and Kenya’s largest population of black rhino. Sometimes the park will treat us to views of lion, leopard, and cheetah.

We’ll spend our first safari evening at your choice of lodge or tented camp.

ACCOMODATION:Lake Nakuru Lodge(Economy),Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge(Comfort),Sarova lionhill game lodge,Flamingo hill tented camp(Luxury)

Day 2

Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara Reserve

5-6 Hour Drive

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

We’ll be up early for a game watching drive around the park and then we’ll head out to the Masai Mara National Reserve.

Along our route, we’ll make stops to relax and to enjoy the vistas as we head into Masai country.

Arriving at the reserve in the afternoon we’ll break for lunch amidst the rolling hills and golden grasslands of the great park. The Masai Mara is home to thousands and sometimes hundreds of thousands of herding wildlife crossing its timeless plains.

We’ll set out on the first of many game drives on our three days in this world-famous reserve. If there are any special requests you have, please share them with your driver/guide. He’s only too happy to make your stay in the park unforgettable.

We will spend the first of two nights here at your Mara lodge or tented camp.

Day 3

Full Day at Masai Mara Reserve

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

We’ll get up early to start our full day at the park – a day spent having as many game drives as you wish.

If you are here during the season of the Great Migration (June – October) you’ll witness an endless flow of herding wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles, streaming into the park over the Mara River.

But at any time of the year, be ready to discover the widest variety of animal life in the region, especially the big cats. The park is also home to buffalo, elephants, rhino, giraffes, and countless more wildlife.

We’ll have a picnic lunch at the Mara River, scene of the animal crossing, and also home to hippo and waiting crocodiles.

If you’d like to create some other unique memories, we offer several optional activities like a cultural encounter with the local Maasai people. Visit their nearby village, meet the original inhabitants of these lands, and learn about their herding lifestyle.

For a soaring adventure over the park, ask your guide about an early morning hot air balloon safari. You’ll sail above the dawn as it lights up the sprawling fields and first stirrings of wildlife.

Our final safari evening will be at your Mara lodge or tented camp.
